Safari Overview

During this 4 days camping safari you will visit the Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park. While this safari has something for everybody – birds, the “Big Five” and a crater filled with wild animals – it is also ideal for those with limited time. You will visit and take one overnight at Lake Manyara National Park, one night at Serengeti National Park and another night at the Crater Rim of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This program has two options: clients will decide whether to spend their nights in a Lodge or Budget Camping Safari in Tanzanian Northern Circuit National Parks.

4 Days Tanzania Northern Circuit Safari Itinerary Details;

Facts: This itinerary safari is for clients who have limited time. It gives you a true taste of what the northern circuit has to offer.

Availability and Departure day: any day of your choice

Day 0: Arrival Arusha

Distance: 30km /50km

Time: 40 km, 30 minutes

You will be met on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha Airport. Transfer to your lodge/hotel accommodation for dinner and overnight (HB).

Meals: Dinner and Overnight (HB)

Accommodation: Hotel / Lodge Accommodation in Arusha.

 

Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park – Mto wa Mbu

Distance: 30km /50km

Non – game viewing time : 3 – 4 hrs

This morning of the first day of your 4 day camping safari, you will be collected from your hotel (pick up point) in Arusha and after a short stop at the supermarket to buy any provisions and personal effects, you will depart on a 4×4 safari land cruiser for Tarangire National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants and huge baobab trees. Crossing the Maasai Steppe you will enjoy the beautiful landscape and sights of Maasai villages along the highway. After a short 2 hour drive you will be at the park gate where you will make a brief stop for paper work. After registration at the park gate you will embark on your first game drives straightaway in search of the many animals that Tarangire has to offer. The Tarangire River, a permanent river in this park, is the lifeline that ensures abundance of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, gerenuks, olive baboons, water bucks and the big cats (lions, leopards and cheetahs). Tarangire is also a birdwatchers haven with more than 55o bird species recorded, including the rare species like the Ashy starlings. After lunch at one of the picnic sites, the afternoon will be spent doing game drives and later in the afternoon you will drive out for overnight at a public campsite around the park, or drive to Mto wa Mbu area (near Lake Manyara) for camping at a campsite.

Day 2: Mto wa Mbu – Serengeti National Park

Distance: 145km

Non – game viewing time : 3 – 4 hrs

After breakfast you will leave Mto wa Mbu and drive through the cooler highland region towards the Serengeti National Park. The world renowned Serengeti National Park, with its diverse landscape ranging from grass plains and dry savannah to marshy woodlands, is the stamping ground of many carnivorous predators and their prey. The park is home to the largest animal migration in the world and depending on the season you will be able to witness this spectacular event unfold. The herds of wildebeest and zebras journey in the short rainy season of November and December from the hills in the north to the southern plains before returning to the north during the longer rainy season of April to June. The location of the migrating herds is dependent on the yearly rainfall, but your guide will know where the best vantage points for wildlife viewing are. The night will be spent at a campsite in the central Serengeti.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Distance: 145km

Non – game viewing time : 2 – 4 hrs

Enjoy an early morning game drive and after depart to Ngorongoro Conservation area. We will stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting with a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here, that the anthropologists Dr. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man,’ both very significant links in the chain of human evolution. In the late afternoon we transfer to Ngorongoro Simba Campsite where you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Distance: 210km

Non – game viewing time : 3 – 4 hrs

After an early breakfast you will start your descent on a narrow and steep road to the crater floor. The crater is inhabited by a spectacular array of wildlife, which includes zebras, hippos, hyenas, wildebeests, warthogs and the famous “Big Five” – buffalo, rhino, lion, elephant and leopard. After extensive game viewing and a lunch at a picnic spot, you will leave the crater and travel back to Arusha, where you will arrive in the late afternoon.
